About Paola

“Texture is at the heart of everything I make — I love surfaces that resemble rust and erosion.”

Paola Kassabian is a ceramic artist based in Los Angeles. Her work is deeply influenced by the underwater world — coral reefs, wildflowers and seed pods, the intricate details of lichen, moss, and rust. She is fascinated by organic textures and forms, and by how these elements come to life in clay.

Every piece is shaped by hand — coiled, carved, and refined over hours — with attention to texture, balance, and the little details that make it unique. Some works are raku-fired, a 16th-century Japanese technique where the piece is pulled from the kiln at the height of firing.

She loves hand-building sculptural statement pieces, inspired by the raw beauty of nature — from coral reefs and seed pods to tree bark. Through her creations she hopes to capture the delicate balance between stillness and movement found in the natural world. Ceramics, in her words, has become a true obsession.

“There's something deeply grounding about slowing down and working with your hands. Welcome to my little corner of clay.”
